Heroes of Might and Magic II was a game you played for pure enjoyment, and of course, for the epicness of the battles. It improved the first title and increased complexity as well as depth. However, HOMM II paved the path to TBS success. A perfect example of a game that was built to be memorableĪs far as turn-based strategy games go, Heroes of Might and Magic II isn’t all that known, the third title was the one what took the world by storm. The Past Tense is the correct one to use because HOMM II is something you go back to because of nostalgia. What a wonderful game Heroes of Might and Magic II was. It’s tough to get the harp sound out of my head, you know, the one that plays when you collect resources. The gameplay, the design, the combat mechanics, it was all absolutely charming. I’ll never forget the first time I saw it load on a friend’s computer screen, then seeing the humans, creatures and monsters fight. I'm sure the "ZEROFILE.EXE" file is mute so deleted. It’s impossible to keep count of how many hours I’ve spent playing Heroes of Might and Magic III, but that was because I first fell in love with Heroes II. "H2INTRO.SMK" and "SH2INTRO.SMK" were replaced in your "homm2-gold-smk.lzx" archive along with "NWCLOGO.SMK" and "SNWCLOGO.SMK" (which were the same size as above) I can provide exact directories / files in each for you? But it would be cool to have a list of the exact files needed then I can make sure I have everything requiredīelow is full list of SMK referenced by the game :Ĭode: Directory of C:\Heroes of Might and Magic 2ġ75 File(s) 163,504,773 bytesYou haven't listed these 0 byte files: "GOOD08.SMK", "GOOD08W.SMK" and "SGOOD08.SMK" though It seems to me that the "normal" version is best to use? With the "Gold Edition" there was no "AMIN" folder so created one and moved any ".SMK" files from "DATA" -> "ANIM". "GOOD08.SMK" and "GOOD08W.SMK" (well 4 really, but 2 were replaced by files from your "homm2-gold-smk.lzx" archive). With the "normal" version I had 2 x files that were 0 bytes i.e. I've now *cough* acquired the "normal" version and the GOG "Gold Edition" PC versions
